Hotels will ALWAYS encourage you to purchase things through them because outside is “dangerous” or of possible poor quality. This is NOT true and is not cost-effective, simply morally wrong to be blunt.

What are the options to move around the region when NOT on a tour?

  • Hotel taxis = priciest.
  • Rental car = not as pricy but a hassle due to local driving regulations
  • Uber = fair price but takes a while to show up, (not enough in the huge region).
  • Do not compromise safety and convenience by walking to the main highway. Boarding a passing vehicle takes a long time and it is always packed with hotel employees. Consider using Uber, which has been reestablished as a legal option in this part of the cou

BEST LOCAL ADVICE IN THE REGION (AND COUNTING…)
  • Please read this advice if you are coming to this part of the world, locals know better!
  • PLEASE rethink such gesture, buy and use biodegradable sunscreen. Our body absorbs and the environment as well.
  • Please, do not pay for pictures with animals.
  • If you find someone is selling turtles, denounce here.
  • Arriving at the airport after exiting customs, the will be a swarm of sales sharks representatives disguised as concierge, some are very convincing but their main goal is to invite you to a sales presentation
  • Don’t take a taxi at the airport, minimum cost is 70 to 80usd. A taxi downtown.
  • Do visit the adventure parks. They are a must do in the area.
  • Dont drink tap water, locals all ready know, only sealed water bottles. No matter how many stars hotel’s have.
  • Never give credit your card to a waiter always request to the terminal to be brought to you eye sight avoiding the risk of getting skimmed.
  • Don't fall for ATMs giving you dollars. It’s best to stop at Mexican society ATM’s and getting pesos with a minimal commission amount.
The quality of your hotel service will dramatically be increased if you are generous with tips in your hotel staff.
  • We recommend you to hide the all inclusive bracelet or keep it somewhere to show it to your hotel.
  • DOn’t loose it to avoid being charged. If you travel through the cities it’s a handy advise to get fair prices on the stores Cancun and Playa del Carmen are very diverse.
  • Underwater lovers must go to the underwater museum called MUSA. We offer snorkel and SCUBA diving to such places here.
  • If you are staying at Cancun’s main hotel zone (link to hotel list) do use the local red buses. It’s a dollar and you are anywhere around there.
